TV Idents: Opportunities, limitation and Creative Communication

Opportunities 

Creation of corporate identity
The opportunities that idents creates for the BBC is the creation of corporate identity, what this dose is communicate the channel values and identify the branding of the channel this is shown through the content of the ident.  
What is denoted through the BBC one advert is that there are people with red,yellow,blue,green and purple are riding bikes in a circle shape, which makes up the shape of the snail shell. What else that you can see is that there is four entrance that are placed in a north, east, south and west positions. 
There is an effect on the indent of 2D animation of a ring fading in around the around about.
What the different colours of the bikers connotes is the flags from the rain coats that they wait for, what effect this create is the togetherness and bringing people together in the same direction as this is shown through the direction of where the bikes are being ride. What we also see through the colour is the representation of  rainbow lases which represents the accepting gay people, what this told through the ident is that BBC are not biased and stereotypical about there views on people. The snail shell images through the bikers spirals connotes that the BBC are hard, as there are a strongly built company that bring people together. 


Display of text-based information
Another element that an ident shown shows information is the display of text based information, what is information that is presenter on the ident as it is visuals of what it means
What the text of the ident is shown as all of the word is in cap letters, there stye that the fonte is typed at is a clean and slick it has an aerodynamic look to it. the colour that they have used is are white.
as there stand out from the background colour. what text connotes is that the capital show us the important in the channel as it has a shouting theme to the fonte. it could also represent the sound that animals make are found and the paint that you feel when you get attack its that you shout when you are hurt. the bright colour could represent the channel study animals that come out in the day time where light can expose the animals. The sharp look to the font could represent the quick speed from animals as the channel as to be fast to capture a spontaneous moment that the animal may create. It say mind games on the ident what this can tell us is that the shown could be mesmerising twitch as the content may be unbelievable .
Branding of content

Other opportunities that ident are created is to show is to show the branding of the content we can see this in the sky 1 Got to Dance ident of 2012 .
 How this ident brands Got to Dance is being, how this is shown is three the action of the cast and the screen tempos of being fast but yet slow, What is denoted is that three judges in the ident there all have different style of dance , you can see Ashley Banjo of having a street dance style to his vibe, Kimberly Watt has a contemporary style to her dance and Adam had a Tap style to his dance style.
What this ident shows is the now serirs of Got to Dance which is one of there most popular show on there show. there. There have created a special ident for the show because it is one of there most expensive show to produce and there would want to sell it as much as possible to the audience. Brand which is connotes that it is fast paces and energetic through the action from the ident as there are dancing in the ident.



Creation of tone
What the creation of tone is the characteristic and the attitudes that the channel creates and the feel that the channel developed through there idents.
What is denoted through the ident is the colour that are shown are warm colour such as orange and reds. The camera shots that they have use is close up on food that is laid on the table. There are different people ethnicity and sex people that are sat around the table for example there are Black , white and Asian male and female that are star around or standing around the table.
What the different ethnicity and sex connotes that the channel is not sexist as cooking could be stereotyped to women and the different type of ethnicity shown that are not judgmental about other people and how there look and what ethnicity there are, what this does is that it create a sense that the channel is represented as togetherness and uniting around the table to share different type of food which would feeling to the ident.

Appeal to target audience
Another aspect of why an ident opportunities to create is a appealing to the target audience.You are able to see this is the ITV 1 idend. 
What is denoted through the ident is that the location of where the ident has been set is on a Bus. There actors that are on the bus that are each doing something simlar to each other , there are mostly allow on the phone as at the beginning of the ident there is a women and a man on there phone and a man that is doing past with is guitar, as all of the actors are isolated and not communicated to each other. 
What the bus location does is creates and link between audience and ITV 1 as the bus location has a representation of britsh people and there source of transport as this appeals to them. The non social environment also appeal to the births audience as there are always on the phone and don't have a structured communication with others this is mostly appealed to an British audience aged 14-30.


Encouragement of brand loyalty
The encouragement of brand loyalty is the element is ident that are shown is to make the audience become more interested and liking into the channel.
This ident is placed on Gold what is she in the ident is segment of a show , which create some of the best moment, this sis to make the audience have something to expect to watch tomorrow at 10pm, The music that is used in the ident is royal British music which is meant to connect that Gold is a Uk based channel and the content that they produce is amid towards a British audience . As this creates a respect and relation to the audience to stay loyal to the country.



Limitations

Typography


The limitation that an ident may experience is the typography of the. we can see to represent the channel and give an idea of what the channel about.
what the fonte denotes on pick is that the letter are lower case letter, there have a curvy and bold style to the font. the colours that are used in the fonte is purple which stands out from the background of the ident. The font is separated apart and spaced out from each letter.
What the fonte connotes is that the survey and bold may connote that it may be a relaxed channel nothing now just the same out show is the comfit of watch the show. there them that the fonte docent tell a lot about the channel. The colour and the font that they have used is basic and not unique to the abidances. The spacing out of the letter may should that they are not in link with the show or together with the content that they show.

Resolution

The resolution of this ident is 720p, As this idea is all 3D animation this could be because the animation software are mostly limited to 720p. That the low resolution does is create fades look and de saturation look to the ident. How ever there is a lot of colour that is placed in the ident but how ever the colour are slightly emerged together.
But the negativity of having HD is that you would need to have a HD TV to actually get the proper view of what HD resolution is, But how ever more and more people have HD TV and can see the difference in the quality of the indents shown.


Here you see the HD 1080p ident on Sky one, This is better then the 720p ident where Sky one use to have as this ident can be improved from the camera resolution that are available these days, where the live action can be more vibrant and more colourful then the old resolution. This ident has a better more professional cinematic look and quality to it. The is also another different that can split the difference between the ident as it say HD at the end of the ident to undercut its a better quality.


Colour

The colour is a source which helps you to denote the feel and the aesthetics of the channel. But how ever you can see in the BBC ident of 1977 you can see a Black and white ident , what the problem with this is that the audience does not have a proper view of what the channel Brand colour are . There could be a libation of what audience had and the broadcaster had at that time, as there was no TV that were available in colour and the TV where expensive to buy this means that nit a lot of people had one Also the colour Tv was not yeah invented for the audience to view the show in.

Size

The size is defined as the size of the users screen that the libation of the dinette content to be seen
There is a lot denoted in the BBC three ident there is a lot going on in the ident, there are people that are in the road in the ident there are building that background that are structured differently and shown. What the limitation of this segment is through the audience and the channel, because in order to see the full detail of this ident you would need a big TV and BBC three is amid towards a young audience and sitistic shown the the rage of young audience own a TV that is 24 to 40 inch TV which is seen small in today. As the same Tv would be hard to show the full detailed work that the audience that the artist has created to represent the BBC three channel.

Aspect-Ratio
The aspect ratio is the content display size and how it show through a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio. This is a BBC three 4:3 aspect ratio ident. the negative thing about this is that the ratio does not show you the full picture , as it restrict you to a smaller screen, what this ratio create is a bad aesthetic of have black bar on the side which make the channel look amateur.This could run the brand image of looking unprofessional. but this could be a limatation of broadcasting technology not have the resources to seen a more protectional 16:9 image across.

Enhancing idea

The enhancing idea is creating the idea but making the an element in the idea different tomato it more noticeable.
There is a horse that is standing in the carp park , this is to represent the the cars. there is also a Britch police offices which is giving the house a tickets. The horse represent the old show that are placed on the show, as the horse represent the old ages of when you used to use horses and carriages instead of cars, the place officer is representing that the horse is illegal to use a victual which could connect that Dave is a real channel and there break the rules.
Pushing the Technology
The pushing in technology, which is technology that is used in the idea to produces element that would be hard and expensive to create in real live. as it make the impossible possible.
What is denoted in this ident that shows the pushing is technology is that you can see that there is a camera reel effect of different floors in the building with the same layout aa each other. There is an explosion on the last floor which is shown the fire starts from the back and edits towards the front. 
What the same building floor connotes is the movie singing as this is representing the movie. the rapid layer of the same floor layout would be hard to create as this would be to expensive. The explosion is an element that would make the impossible possible. as the explosion would be to dangerous and costly to do simultaneously.

Communicating Visual ideas to a non visual audience

The communication of the visuals to a non audience this is shown in the music area of the ident.
What is denoted in the indent is that there is a bootleg version of the Michael Jackson song Billy Jeans. The song has a funny/humours side to it, it has been purposely made funny for the channel. What the bootleg song does it creates an identity for the channel of showing funny content it give the impression that they content is not serious like the news its funny for your enjoyment.
Creating under pressure of time and budget
The creation of the pressure of time and budget. Its an ident that denotes that the channel is not rich and  its seen in there own content.
What is dented in this ident is a simple two colour ident of blue and yellow. The font that is placed on the idea is simple and over used in other medias. The ident look like not a lot of would has been put into it as there is not true content to define the feel of the channel. The ident look like a 2D indent but there is a 3D aspect to it but it is not full defined in the diet , as this would be a quick and easy to produce the dent.There is no proper imagery that is put into the indent.

Appealing to a target audience

The applying to target audience is the refraining and relation between the audience and the channel, this is shown in the ITV ident.
What ITV ident denotes is that the location where it is set is on a bus , there are people sat on the bus that are on there phone and are not commutation to each other , There is a female the had flashing bunny ear at the back but is un-noticed. 
What the location of the bus connote is the appealing of the British audience, as this is a typical transport that British people use. as this could also represent the audiance that ITV have amid there channel show at British audience , The phone uses from the actor on the bus connotes the relationship and similar that there people do the same which is become isolated it a public environment.

Appreciation of desired tone.
The appreciation of desired tone shows the . What is denotedbin this ident is there is a female and a male that is dancing
What is denoted in this ident is that you can see a male and female that re wearing casual close. the cut in the ident are fast paced it cuts to the beat of the music . The dance that they are doing is dancing that you do in a street battle. The music that is used is hip-hop and modern.
The Fast paces cut in the ident create a tone of energetic  found and creative and there is something different every cut the same shoot is not used over again. The music create a tone of modern vibes and link to a clue music and party mood of the channel as this is a music channel.The chancing add a screen Tempo of fast pace and added more liveliness and energy to the ident it give something to look at.

Ident purposes

Identity

Sky Sports HDThe purpose why sky sport HD uses ident on there programme to create an identity for the sky sport. Its purpose is to create a recognition for the channel, of what content they specialise to put out to the audience.

What is denoted in the sky sport indent is that there is action involved in them, the camera framing that mostly used in the in a long shoots to show a full action of what is going on.The action on screen has been slow down. The sky sport logo is a 3D generated image that appear 1/4 of the way in of the ident , it is faded in ,it starts to come up behind the layer of the slow motion video. The locations that are used in the idents are real sporing locations that you would see in  a match or tournament.

What the ident on sky sport connotes is through the action of the sky sport logo fade in from several layer, is that is tell the audience that they are behind the live action, this is show in the images above. It develops a identity that they have the responsibility of covering the show. The slow seen tempo connotes to us that they are there to slow down the action and for you to processes every single bit , it also connotes to us that they branding is to cover spontaneous live action.The camera shoot connotes that they want to show you the full picture, they are part of the media that tell the truth.

A reasons why idents are created for channels is denotes the branding of the channel we can see this element show on is one the National Geographical channel.

NatGeoNatGeoWhat is denoted through the Nat Geo channel, is the colour on the logo is brighter and stands out from the background as the background is either dark or a mixer of mild colour. The idents is denotes through a variety of shoot as there is a link between them as it starts of with a close up, then goes on to a mid shot and then has a long shot, then at the end there is a swipe of the logo coming in. The action on the screen is broken down into a slow motion scenes. The mise en scenes are location that are brutally and ruff to go through and you see the logo in the middle of all the action.

NatGeoThe Nat Geo channel idents connote the branding of the channel as being enthusiastic, we see this from the logo going through a brutal scene, which connotes that they are a part of the action and there get stuck in and experience the geography of the world. The ident also connotes that the channel goes through step by step to expose the whole image this is shown through the order of shoots of close up, mid shot and log shot.The colour of the logo being more out standing connotes to use that the brand of Nat Geo are to do action that are are spontaneous and different to others.

The reason why itv would create an ident for the world cup, is to help market the football match, as there are one of the most expensive events to cover.

What is denoted through the itv ident is that the framing of the video in a close up shoot or a mid shoot . Some of the action is slow down in the ident for the audience. The logo of the ident has been changed in colour as the colour are now  a part of the coloured action. There is a movement involved in the ident there is a track denoted with the subject in the ident. The logo of itv is placed on the center left hand side of the ident. The costume in the ident are brightly colour and there match the colour of the nations that are playing in the world cut for example there is yellow and green to match the Brazil football kit. the location that have been denoted in the ident are location that you want seen a football world cup, for example we see a stadium, pitch and a parade area.

ITVWhat the idents on ITV one connotes through the close up and the mid shoots is that its not showing the full picture as this is promoting and motivating the audience to watch the world cup and to see what the bigger picture is. The colour that the itv logo shows is a part of the action what this connotes is they are be hide all of the world cup action as there have teamed up and Fifa for the world cup. The costumes in the idents connotes to the audience is that they world cup is going to be lively and energetic, their have done this because the world cup costs a lot of money to broadcast it , and itv want to promote it as much as there can to get most of the viewership.

E4What is denoted through the E4 ident is that there is the location that are shown through the ident  are realise location that the audience  can go to, for example there is a cafe, house and bus stop which are seen in the ident as . There is the same character through out the dents. the action the the character has is unique as he is doing  things and the surrounding are not paying attention to the characrter. The shoot structure is relative live the same as it starts off with a close up and then with a long shoot, then made  shoot and them made shoot and a long shoot at the end, as the movement are shown when the character is moving, the movement that is mostly shown is a track movement.

The location that is denoted in the ident connect to the viewer as being noticeable location, as this is contestants through the variety of ident. as the package of ident connect similarity between the audience. The changes of multiple different shoots connect to the audience that there are giving glimpse of diffrent about the channel. This structure allows the channel to make different dents with a smiler style of the character of being isolated.

What is denoted through the 2003 ITV 2 ident is that there is a contuse should because the whole ident is a graphic generated. there colour are basic but noticeable of being blue and yellow with a black background which makes it stand out. The ident has has a fade in and out effect doing the ident of the logo, as this is seen multiple times.

ITV2what is denoted through the 2006 ITV 2 ideent is that there is that there is one continuos shoot presenter in the idents as there is no cuts. The movement of the screen is that it is moving to right as it is shown as a track. The action shown in the ident are fast and quick and there is variety of active and shows. The colour in the dents are colourful and bright and have a particle like to the action in the ident, for example there is a skiing and has a lice blue collar to the ident.

ITV2ITV2what is comparisons that the dents have a signficant gape in it as there is a diffrance between the 2003 and2006, we can seen in the 20013 you can see a plain and stagnated stitched that didn't really bring a lot across to the audience but how ever the 2006 ident have a lot of actions, as the is one contentious should which connect to use that there do not stop there give content after content after connect , it connect that there give the audience a variety to watch. The colour between both are different in 2003 there was only colour ident into the logo buy how ever the 2006 it shows is a lot of colour as the whole screen is coloured with colour which tell us that IVT 2 are colourful and energetic.

The reason why sky 1 have created a different unique idents for the show Got To Dance, the purpose of this is the way that Got to Dance is scheduled. 

Sky OneWhat the ident is denoted through. is that they camera shoot that most of the ident from sky 1 are shown through a mid and long shot. There are camera movement involved in the ident. the screen tempo of the ident id fast but slow down, as it is slow motion. There is a lot of action used in the ident, as there is lots of different type of genre of dance such as, Ashley banjo  with is crew is street dance. Kimberly is contemporary, Adam is Tap, Aston is hip hop and Davine is casual. The location that are used are urban and deserted and open out. 

Sky OneWhat the sky 1 Got to Dance ident connotes is that there are on stage and part of the the performance instead of being in the crowd, this is show through the location and the action that the judges and the presenter are doing.
The slow down content connotes that they are there to slow down the programme and allow you to process the content as a whole. The action and the screen tempo connotes the lively and energetic feel to the progamme, this is show through the dynamic feel of the camera potion. What the cut between the long and mid shoot connote that sky 1 are showing you glimpses of the bigger picture, as there persuade the user to watch the channel.

The purpose of why Gold have created a different ident is to show the segmentation within scheduling to show to audience that they are about to enter the after dark section.
GOLD
What is denoted through the Gold after dark ident is the text of the dinette is first presented with a gold coloured font then wither there is  transitions of the colour of having a back outlined background, there is a added text after gold which is after dark, there is a effect on the text as there isa shadow effect placed.The object on screen are denoted as there is a being things that you would normally see for encamp you can see chips,jelly and neon lights. The screen tempo is denoted as being slick.

what is connoted through the gold after dark ident is the shadows effect on the fonts connote to use the shadows that you get from street light, the transition from the gold front on going to black connotes that the bright side of the channel is about to go dark and my be unpleasant to watch. The chips on the ident connotes a meal that you would get from a night out its to tell that gold has had a night out.The neon lights connotes the aesthetics of the club and how it looks like. the telly of he ident connoted the slow reaction that a person will get from a night out. The purpose of this is to advise the viewer that content may be offensive.
